Katy tests money-saving apps, tools, and websites to find ones that are legitimate, easy to use, and effective to share with readers.
Is Romwe Legit?
Yes, Romwe is a legitimate website and clothing store. They are a web-based, fast-fashion retailer that delivers around the world. You've probably seen their cute clothes advertised at super low prices and wondered whether it's too good to be true While some of the deals do seem hard to believe, they are totally real. I've made a few orders from Romwe and will share my experience here along with some tips and hints on how to get free shipping and avoid having to make returns.
I placed a big order from Romwe a year ago and have made several smaller orders since then. I recommend trying them out for a few items that have good reviews to see how you like their products. Do be careful, though, as all of their clothing is not created equal, and their website offers a different experience than what you may be used to. Want to know more about what clothing you'll get and how to find the best deals? Read on to learn how to shop for items that will fit you and avoid common mistakes.

Quality and Value
Romwe's clothing quality varies widely throughout the site. For this reason, and can be helpful to read customer reviews on specific products you are considering purchasing. That said, it's easy to find really terrible reviews from shoppers who didn't know what they were buying and were super unhappy with their cheap blouse or skirt, so don't put too much stock in this. For the most part, the clothing offered on the site is a good value.
Sizing can be confusing at first, but since measurements are specified for each item and each size, it's actually much easier to be confident something will fit if you're able to take the time. Even if an item is available in your size, I would recommend checking the specific measurements against your own to avoid a time-consuming return later on.
Tip: I always look through customer photos in the reviews of the items I'm considering to try to find women with similar measurements to my own wearing them. This gives me an idea of how a piece might fit and look on me.
Romwe claims to offer a diverse array of styles with plenty of items stocked for people of all tastes. Despite this, I find that most of the looks they offer are very young (think late teens to early 20s). Crop tops, skinny pants, and oversized sweaters are easy to find.
Romwe's shipping policies are fairly generous, and their shipping time isn't anywhere near as long as you'd expect.
Romwe offers two-dollar shipping, but it's really easy to get free delivery in the US by ordering at least $15 worth of items. A $35 order gets you free express shipping.
Note: return shipping is not free! There's more on how to do a return below.
Shipping time can be a huge concern for items coming from China. It used to be a big problem with buying from Romwe; you didn't know whether your item was going to arrive in one week or seven.

These days, however, they are much more consistent. If you live in the United States, you'll get your order in two weeks with flat-rate shipping. It should be six to eight days if you choose express shipping. Express shipping is free for orders over $35, so that's not too hard to do.
Returns are accepted, but you have to pay for the return shipping, which is usually $6. Romwe does not accept returns for intimates or swimwear. The return process is actually pretty seamless now. You can return as many items as you want, so the $6 can be worth it in a larger order.
Coupon Codes and Sales
There are sales and promotions going on all the time on Romwe, so it can be hard to know whether you're getting a discount on an item or just buying it at the normal price.
Seasonal Promotions and Coupon Codes
Occasionally, Romwe will run sales for a set dollar amount off when you spend a certain amount. Expect to spend between $40 and $100 to see discounts between $5 and $20. These can be really helpful when stacked with some of the other discounts I'll talk about below.
They also run seasonal promotions like sales on sweaters in the fall or crop tops in summer. As far as I can tell, these are true discounts (in that those items actually cost more during other seasons, and you're saving money by purchasing them during sales). It is possible that some of the items are marked up just for the sale to mark them down.
At any time, you can get 10% off your order for signing up with an email. This stacks on top of any sales that are going on.
There's a special section of the site dedicated to "Lightning Deals," which are deals that are only good on that day. These seem to be discounted anywhere from 20¢ to $2. These are not always worth looking into in my opinion.
There is also a Clearance section under the "Sales" tab on the site. In this section, you'll find discounted items that are anywhere from 60 to 90% off. I usually peruse this section, but I rarely find anything I want there. It's mostly items that are out of style or are not highly rated by customers for some reason or another.
Students get 15% off once they register. This is valid at any time and can be used on top of other sales. If you're a student who is planning on making a purchase, the student discount is definitely worth adding on.
Romwe vs. SHEIN
If you're looking into Romwe for cheap clothes, you might have also come across SHEIN.
If you go to their website, you'll notice it looks pretty similar to Romwe's. And yes, they actually have some of the same products. I've checked, and the prices are the same or vary by only $0.05.
Pros of Romwe
Romwe has a lower minimum to get free shipping ($15 vs. SHEIN's $50), but SHEIN's returns are free, which is a huge plus compared to paying $6 for returns to Romwe.
Pros of SHEIN
I think SHEIN has a wider range of products and offers pieces to suit a more diverse array of styles. Romwe definitely offers more casual styles that seem best-suited to teens and young adults.
