Romwe is Legit

Romwe is a legit website and clothing store. They are a fast fashion retailer that delivers around the world. You've probably seen their cute clothes advertised for super low prices and wondered whether it's legit. The deals seem hard to believe but they are legit. I've made a few orders from Romwe and can share my experience.

The short story? The prices are Walmart level and the quality ranges from Walmart up to Old Navy or Gap.

My Romwe Review

I placed a big order from Romwe a year ago and have made several smaller orders since then. I recommend trying them out for a few items that have good reviews to see how you like their products. But be careful, they're not all created equal and it's a bit different shopping from a Chinese website.

Quality / Value

The clothing quality varies a lot throughout the site. So it's easy to find really terrible reviews because the shoppers didn't know what they were buying and were super unhappy with a cheap blouse or skirt.

But for the most part, the clothing is a good value.

Sizing: Need to Use Measurements

Sizing can be confusing at first. But since measurements are specified for each item and each size it's actually much easier to be confident something will fit.

Tip: I always look through pictures in reviews on the site of women wearing the items and find ones that have similar measurements to me. This gives me an idea of what it will fit like on me.

Style: Young and Trendy

Romwe claims to have a diverse style with items stocked for everyone. I find that despite that the looks are very young (mostly teen to early 20s).

Crop tops, skinny pants and oversized sweaters are easy to find.

Shipping Cost: $2 or Free (Above $15 Order)

It's really easy to get free delivery in the US by ordering at lest $15 worth of items. A $35 order gets you Express shipping.

But beware: return shipping is NOT free! There's more on how to do a return below.

Shipping Time: 1 to 2 Weeks

Shipping time is a huge concern for items coming from China. It used to be a big problem with buying from Romwe: you didn't know whether your item was going to take one week or seven.

But now they are much more consistent. You'll get your order in 2 weeks to the US with Flat Rate Shipping. It should be 6-8 days if you choose Express. Express is free for orders over $35 so that's not too hard to do.

Return Policy

Returns are accepted but you have to pay for the return shipping ($6). They don't accept returns for intimates or swimwear.

The return process is actually pretty seamless now. You can return as many items as you want so the $6 can be worth it in a larger order.

Coupon Codes and Sales

There are sales and promotions going on all the time on Romwe so it's hard to know whether you're getting a discount price or just buying at the normal price.

Seasonal Promotions and Coupon Codes

Occasionally, Romwe will run sales for a set dollar amount off when you spend a certain amount. Expect to spend $40-$100 to see discounts like $5-$20. These can be really helpful when stacked with other discounts I'll talk about below.

They also run seasonal promotions like sweaters in the fall or crop tops in summer. As far as I can tell, these are true discounts (in that those items actually cost more during other seasons and you've saving money by purchasing then). But it's possible that some of the items are marked up just for the sale to mark them down.

At any time, you can get 10% off your order for signing up with an email. This stacks on top of any sales that are going on.

Lightning Deals

There's a special section of the site dedicated for Lightning Deals that are only good that day. These seem to be discounted anywhere from 20 cents to a couple dollars. It's not worth checking into in my opinion.

Clearance Section

There is also a Clearance section under the Sales tab. These are discounted items, anywhere from 60 to 90% off.

I usually peruse this section but rarely find anything. It's mostly items that are out of style or are not highly rated by customers for some reason or another.

Student Discount

Students get 15% off once they register. This is good for any time and can be used on top of sales. If you're a student who is planning on making a purchase that is definitely worth adding on.

SHEIN vs Romwe

If you're looking into Romwe for a purchase, you might have also come across SHEIN. They're a legit retailer, read my SHEIN review before making a big purchase.

If you go to their website, you'll notice they both look similar. And yes, they actually have some of the same products. I've checked, the prices are the same or vary by only $0.05.

Romwe has a lower minimum to get free shipping ($15 vs SHEIN's $50). But SHEIN's returns are free, which is a huge plus compared to paying $6 to make any returns to Romwe.

I think SHEIN has a wider range of selection and includes pieces for all styles. Romwe is definitely styled more casual, probably best for teens and young adults.
