Wish App and Wish.com Shopping Review
What Is Wish Shopping App?
Wish is a shopping app based out of San Francisco that offers very low prices on clothing, makeup, and accessories that mostly come from warehouses in China. It connects consumers with a marketplace of vendors on their phone. Learn more about how Wish can offer such low prices.
Right now, Wish is a leading app for e-commerce and is leading the way for how we buy clothing and other merchandise on our smartphones. The photo-driven shopping style and very low prices make it ideal for consumers to give up the peace of mind they get when they can touch and try on a clothing item before buying.

A Few Cautions About Buying Clothing From Wish
Scrolling through the app seeing cute clothes for only a few bucks makes it hard to resist purchases. Especially since once your PayPal account is linked to the app. You can make a purchase by sliding a bar below the product you want. But keep in mind a few points before you start going swipe-crazy:
- The clothes are in Asian sizing which often don't translate well.
- Shipping is slow (2 weeks+) and estimates are sometimes inaccurate.
- There is little product description and many people report the pictures being inaccurate.
Clothing Size Charts for Wish
For the sizing issue, most clothes on the site are sized for Asian women, which means they will typically run one to two sizes smaller than the women's clothes in an American store. Many of the items have sizing charts to help in size selection, but often the best information is from the reviews left by consumers who have already received the product. The helpful ones mention what size they normally buy at a store in the United States and let you know if the size they ordered ended up fitting them.
Expect shipping to take a couple weeks and don't be surprised if it takes longer than it tells you. While most items are on time, the Wish app does not seem to place much emphasis on keeping their delivery dates. Remember, this is not Amazon Prime.
The product descriptions given in Wish are hard to find and not very detailed. As a mobile shopping site, it is mostly visual, banking on convincing you to buy the product with just the picture.
To know if it is worth it to spend $4 on a shirt that will cost $1 to ship, read the customer reviews. Many people try to leave detailed useful information. These will usually give you enough information to decide whether it is something you want to buy.
There's an option for reviewers to post photos of the item they receive. These give you a lot more insight into what the product will look like on a person, versus the model in the picture.

Review: Product Quality from Wish
For the most part, the products on Wish are worth the money. But be careful when someone says that about a $3 shirt. Sometimes the material is listed under Description and that can give you an idea of what you will receive. As was stressed before, the best research you can do is reading the customer reviews and deciding if getting the worst outcome described there is worth the amount of money you would spend.
The products available on Wish tend to come without a label or brand and trends make up a great deal of the apparel products. You are not going to find your next favorite pair of jeans in that exact fit that will last you the next 5 years like you would expect from a quality brick and mortar store. But there is plenty of selection when you search "bralette" or "jumper". And the "bodycon" phase is still going strong with Wish. They do have staples like tank tops and button downs but the quality is hit or miss. Wish is a shopping venue best used for trying out novelties for cheap, and ordering more colors when it works out!
Free Gifts for New Users
When you first download the app and sign in Wish lets you pick an item for free. These normally range from $1-$5 but you get it for free plus the cost for shipping. There's no gimmicks here. You actually will receive the item you purchased from China. But as with any item on Wish the cost to ship the item is probably what it is worth and you get what you pay for.
What to Buy from Wish

Best Items to Buy
The cautions on slow shipping and iffy product quality doesn't mean that all items from Wish are a bad deal. It's the largest marketplace for Asian goods and you have access to it from your smart phone. There are plenty of items that are worth buying if you do the research.
Stretchy Fast Fashion Clothing
Fast fashion items like skirt, dresses, t-shirts and tanks that are stretchy have great potential to excellent purchases from Wish. Novelty t-shirts with cool graphics or funny sayings are hard to wrong with. It is important that the item is stretchy because the sizes can vary so much. The stretch in the material will give you a little leniency if you get the wrong size. Beware of items with exposed stitching or zippers because poor quality in those areas will ruin a garment.
Phone cases and other cell phone accessories like cords and screen protectors are a surprisingly solid bet from Wish. If you find a product with pictures that shows the case or accessory with your phone model you'll have greater confidence it will fit correctly.
Hidden Gems: Shower Speakers with Bluetooth
People are always on the hunt for great deals that other shoppers haven't discovered yet. These do occasionally pop up on Wish but unfortunately it's impossible to know you are looking at a solid deal without buying it.
Unless you do some extensive research before trying for yourself! Look up the Bluetooth capable speakers on Wish that are water proof. They offer quite a few and most have great reviews. Bluetooth is a well established technology and the sound quality from their speakers is actually pretty high. They will range from $5 to $15 and compare really well to their $50-$75 retail counter parts.
Wish vs Geek App
Geek is a electronics bargain shopping app that is keeping pace with Wish. Like Wish, Geek's merchandise is primarily shipped from China. Geek does have some clothing items similar to what Wish carries but most of their merchandise is small electronics and toys.
The same cautions apply to Geek: don't expect high quality or fast shipping. But with the right research (and usually a bit of trial and error) Geek can be a great bargain for the right items.
