FREE Stuff to Try Out from Sites Like BzzAgent and House Party

Do you like FREE STUFF? Did you know that some companies will give you FREE products to try out and tell your friends about? Well, it's true! There are several companies like this. You have probably even heard of a few, like BzzAgent or House Party. If not, keep reading for a great list of word of mouth marketing sites!

If you're not familiar with Word of Mouth (WOM) Marketing, you should be. It is the most influential type of marketing and it happens every day. Basically, it boils down to someone telling someone else about a new product or service that they like. If you've EVER told someone about a new, cool product, you've participated in word of mouth marketing.

Now don't you wish you could have received a FREEBIE for doing so? Well now you can!

All of these opportunities are 100% FREE. They do not charge to join nor do they charge you for shipping the items to you.

BzzAgent is the cream of the crop when it comes to word of mouth marketing. They have the most campaigns and the most members of any of the word of mouth marketing companies. When you join, you become a BzzAgent and your job is to spread "Bzz" about products that they send you. You do have to take short surveys (less than 5 minute each) to determine whether you fit into the demographic of a Bzz Campaign but the really nice part is that you get MyPoints (a cashback/rewards program) for every survey you complete as well as every time you Bzz about a product and report back to BzzAgent about it. You can trade these points for gift cards to restaurants, department stores, travel companies, etc.

Crowdtap is a unique word of mouth marketing company. After you sign up, which they call "tapping in", you take 1 question surveys for points. Sometimes the questions qualify you for a discussion board topic. Other times, they qualify you for product test/reviews or parties. The majority of the time, though, you just answer the questions for points and nothing comes of it. They have some really cool brands working with them such as Old Navy, Listerine and Hawaiian Tropic. The BEST part of this company, though, is that your effort rewards charities. When you join, you choose a charity and Crowdtap donates money to that charity whenever you cash out your points.

I will admit that this word of mouth marketing company has gone downhill lately. They used to reward you with cold, hard cash but now they've switched over to points that you can redeem for gift cards, t-shirts, etc. This sounds better but it also takes a LOT longer to earn anything cool. Before the switch, I had earned $20 in cash and donated several dollars to Charity: Water.

Ripple Street (Formerly House Party)

Ripple Street is one of the COOLEST word of mouth marketing programs! You throw parties sponsored by brands! Ripple Street reveals new parties on a regular basis and you apply for the ones you're interested in. You take a short survey that covers both demographics as well as shopping/lifestyle. Then, they select the best candidates for each party. Ripple Street sends you a kit with enough items for 10-15 guests and then you throw a party and have some fun. This is a really popular word of mouth marketing website and some of the parties are very hard to get into but they are VERY worth it. Over the years, I've hosted parties for Microsoft, Zumba, Ford, and American Idol. They were all REALLY fun and my friends are still talking about how fun and unique some of the parties were.

Influenster is a really fun word of mouth marketing company. They send out "VoxBoxes" which are boxes filled with products to test out and share. The boxes you receive are based on your interests and lifestyle. You take very short quizzes about various parts of your life to earn badges. These badges determine the type of boxes you can receive. In order to receive a VoxBox, you should have some method to "influence" people, meaning that you have a blog to write reviews on, a YouTube channel to do video reviews, a Twitter account, etc. I've noticed that the more influence you have, the better your chance of getting a VoxBox.

Once you get the VoxBox, you have challenges to complete for each product in the box. These challenges can be as simple as following the manufacturer on Twitter and Facebook or as complex as doing a video review. When you complete the challenges, you earn a badge. The badges qualify you for special giveaways or discounts. The most active Influensters have the highest chance of being chosen for another VoxBox.

Smiley360 is newer and does not have as many opportunities as the other companies however Smiley360 has some GREAT ones! Similar to all the other companies, you take short surveys and your answers qualify you for Smiley Missions. These Missions are like BzzCampaigns, you receive a box with the product, usually some coupons and a guide on how to spread the word about the product. For every mission activity you complete such as posting to Facebook or telling someone face to face, you earn "Smiles" and these Smiles determine your level. The higher your level, the more opportunities you receive.

Smiley360 also has a GREAT blogger program so if you're a blogger looking for products to review, definitely join Smiley360!

SampleSource is a relatively new company. It is different than most of the other word of mouth marketing companies in that they don't require you to fill out a feedback form or actually tell people about the product. They send the samples no strings attached which is nice because if you hate the sample, you don't feel obligated to tell anyone about it unless you really hate the product.

SampleSource works by allowing you to fill out a profile about your household. Using the information provided in the profile, they offer you various products to sample every few months. Usually, the samples are healthy and beauty products like toothpaste, shampoo, and lotion, but sometimes they offer food or pet products.

Once you are offered a sample box, you log in and accept the products you want. Within 4-6 weeks, you receive a box in the mail. I joined SampleSource in fall of 2015 and I have received 2 boxes since then. I have been quite happy with the products and the service.

Did I miss any companies? What's the coolest product you've received? Come on, we all want to know!

I am on all of these websites and I love them all. However they are a couple of companies that are missing like PinchMe, P&G Everyday, Daily Goodie Box, Exactly, Social Nature, She Speaks, Sampler, All, Snuggle, and many more!

I've been signed on to some of these sites since February and I've gotten 1 product to test from BzzAgent which bums me out cause I had high hopes. Now CrowdTap I am as active as possible and have gotten to text 2 products and earned $25 in Amazon cards to boot. Swaggable had sent me a few things. I keep trying on Influenster but haven't gotten lucky. I recently got my 1st full sized sample from SheSpeaks. It's all about the surveys if u fly through them or in my case tell the truth you won't get nearly as many campaigns as someone who says they like everything and do everything and have every social media account out there. Be true to yourself and be patient there some cool stuff.

PinchMe is good but it's more of a sample site and you don't have to tell your friends afterwards if you don't want to. Also, it's very difficult to get samples from PinchMe because they only release them once per month and their website gets slammed by traffic during that time so they often "sell out" before you can get a full box. I've only been able to get samples once in the past 6 months from them and there were only 2 samples I could get.

I just got 6 awesome samples on Pinchme today! You should definitely add them to the list. Much easier to use than the other sites

I really love being a BzzAgent because you get lots of great products that you can try to tell about and share with other people out there. It truly benefits the everyone in the loop. I have received everything from full size baby formula, diapers, sippy cups to skin cream, makeup and toys to name a few. Another one you should try is for moms, be a mom ambassador at Great lens!

Thanks for this! I know little about word of mouth and I didn't there were this many sites and programs for it. Klout is the only site I've tried and for my kind of marketing I don't really find the relevance of using the site. I think it's something you would be able to use if you had more 20,000 followers or so. Getting Klout to rank you is good in that sense.

Thanks Jessica, I have not heard of any of the above considering I spend a lot of time researching on the internet. Most definitely, look into it to see which one is suitable for me.

This is an area that I'm not very familiar with, since I don't participate in survey sites. But I appreciate this inventory you've compiled! In passing, I have not heard of many of them. House Party looks like it could be real fun for Avon-type people. I just wonder about how much time it takes in relation to how much work needs to be done. Do you feel it's worthwhile? Just curious.
