3 Questions to Ask When Apartment Hunting

Write that down, write that down

Apartment hunting is both stressful and exciting. You have the thrill of starting anew with the fear of making the wrong choice. As you go down the list of possibilities, you get more and more desperate.

The key to finding the right match is to ask the right questions. TikTok creator @boujiebudgeter posted a video sharing three questions that all apartment hunters should as while touring. These will give you a good starting point to ask more questions.

The first thing you should inquire about is whether or not there is cement between the walls. This will tell you a lot about the kind of noise levels you can expect from the building. Next, you should ask about the current occupancy percentage. It's good to know how much of the building is actively rented out. Lastly, try o figure out the guest parking situation, especially if you're somebody who likes to host.

"That cement question is SOLID. That is definitely not the case in my current apt building and it is absolutely TERRIBLE," @yalldontclean commented.

Some folks in the comments section chimed in with their own go-to questions. "My favorite questions I like to ask are 1. Is this complex in a flood zone (you can always reference FEMA)? And 2. How often are fire drills performed?," @iamjordonm said. "Ride through the apartment complex at night, so you can see how the parking is," @kstrong__ said.

If you're afraid you won't remember everything you want to ask, write down your questions and bring them with you. And don't be afraid to take notes. You deserve a home that's up to your standards!
