7 Signs That Writing for HubPages Could Be Right For You

Nicole has a degree in psychology, and is a mom to three young sons. She loves all things art, and enjoys writing about her experiences.

1. You Like to Make Money While Not Doing Anything (Passive Income)

Do you like to make some extra income while not really doing anything? (Wouldn't anyone want that?) Well, if writing is a passion of yours and it doesn't really feel like work, and if you like the idea of making money from articles that you only have to take the time to write once (but then it continues to make money while you're sleeping and doing other activities), then you have found the right side gig! Or maybe even full-time gig, if you keep at it! If writing is a joy and not a chore to you, and it's something you look forward to, then maybe making a little passive income by writing articles for a platform like HubPages is something you should consider!

2. You Like to Put in a Little Effort Regularly to Keep Up Your Page

Am I saying you actually do have to put in some effort to be successful on HubPages? Yes! But didn't I just say you can make money, while not doing anything? Yes. What I mean is, if you really enjoy writing (and editing your own work along the way), and if you enjoy responding to people's comments on your work, as well as commenting on other hubbers' writings, then you can get a lot of value out of being part of the HubPages community. You can put in as much effort as you want to, but in my experience, you truly get out of it what you put in. So if you don't mind spending some time uploading quality photos to your hubs, writing quality hubs that are worth reading, editing your work and engaging your readers, it can definitely be well worth your time! The best part is that you only have to write content once, and then the more readers you get, the more passive income you have the potential to make.

3. You Want to Find an Encouraging and Meaningful Community

We can find different types of communities in many different areas of our lives. Church provides a type of community. Being part of your local library and getting involved in your city can provide another type. Family and friends are, of course, usually our closest forms of community. But then there is also the opportunity to build an online community of friends who are interested in the same topics and interests or experiences that you are, and you can certainly find that type of atmosphere here on HubPages! For myself personally, I have found some really awesome fellow Christians, who enjoy writing about their faith like I do. I've also found some fellow artists who share their protect ideas and tips, and it's been really interesting. I've also been able to use this platform to reach out to others and use my voice, which brings me to my next point...

4. You Enjoy Inspiring and Encouraging Others

Do you have a life experience to share that could encourage others? Most everyone does. The nature of being human is that we all want to feel validated and understood. If you think you're the only one going through somethin, I promise you, you're not! And HubPages is a great place to find that community of people who have experienced something in life that you have as well. In my case, I've been able (by God's grace) to encourage other women who have had a miscarriage, because I went through two myself in 2015. I've been able to encourage others in their relationship with God. I've also been able to share my story about being cut off by a close friend, and realize just how much that experience resonated with others. Losing a friend is a tough experience, but because of my situation and the way God showed me to handle it, other people facing similar circumstes have found hope. And that is really one of, if not the best thing about writing on HubPages in my opinion! It is an awesome opportunity to help others and be a blessing.

5. You Crave a Creative Outlet

If you literally crave a creative outlet where you can express yourself in a legitimate way, look no further! Writing is a big part of that creative aspect of my life. As a mom to three young sons, I'm very busy every day with lots of repetitive and mundane tasks. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but everyone needs a little variety in life and "me" time! Writing gives me that creative time I need to just enjoy and let loose. I guess you could say it's a form of catharsis for me! If you feel the same way, and can see yourself jotting down articles during naptime, go ahead and give HubPages a try! You can incorporate so many other things into your hubs as well, like your own photography or handmade art. The sky is the limit!

6. You Like to Work at Home, on Your Phone or Laptop

Writing hubs obviously requires an internet connection and some type of device, whether it be a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. If you enjoy working on these devices and like the idea of working from home, writing for HubPages might be perfect for you. I love being able to get on my laptop in the evenings and write a hub while the kids are sleeping. It's also convenient to get on my phone during naprime on occasion and write. The nice thing about working remotely is, you can do it pretty much anywhere, as long as you have the technology! Which brings me to my next point.....

7. You Need Income Outside the Traditional 9-5 Job

When most people think of earning extra income, getting a second job might come to mind. But for those of us who have small children at home and want to be stay-at-home moms, this is not always possible. Someone with a disability might also (in some cases) find it harder to work a standard 9-5 job. Or maybe you just want or need more income than your current career or job provides. Regardless of the reason, writing for HubPages can eventually turn into a primary or even a secondary income, if you persevere and work hard at it. One nice benefit of this is that you have a lot of freedom. You can write about pretty much anything you want to, and don't have to show up on time to an office or specific location. You are kind of your own boss, in a sense!

Bonus Reason: You Love English or Journalism

If you love English and/or Journalism, chances are you'll do great writing for HubPages. I was in AP English in high school for two years and greatly enjoyed it. Sometimes I think I could have majored in Journalism or English in college, instead of Psychology. While you certainly don't need a writing background to write on HubPages (anyone can!) it couldn't hurt, either!

Yes, persistence to keep writing and creating new content is key. You can also promote your articles on other platforms like Instagram or Pinterest. You can create a main image for your article and then post that on Pinterest, where others can then "pin" your article, thereby sharing it to a wider audience. This can be very helpful in growing your reader base. Instagram and Facebook posts also work in a similar manner. When others comment on your hubs, you can click on their hubpages profile to comment on their hubs as well. This also helps to widen your audience. I hope these tips help. God bless you on your writing journey with HubPages!

I'm so glad you agree! Same here! Writing for HubPages has really been a wonderful creative outlet for me since I started in 2012. I've also been really blessed to be able to make a little cash through writing on this platform, as well. It's been a win-win all the way around! I hope you continue to enjoy and benefit from writing on HubPages.

I was literarily nodding and answering yes to all the points listed.

Making the decision to write for hubpages is one of the best I have made.

That's awesome to hear! I hope the same thing will go for me. I guess patience is really important here, right? I just have to keep writing until I see results, is that correct? Thanks for your message. It helps me push myself more and not give up on pursuing this writing career.

Glad you found HubPages! I started writing back in 2012. I had no idea I could ever make any income from writing on this platform. However, over the years I've been greatly blessed by writing for HubPages. I started to see small amounts trickling in over time, and it was really neat. A few extra dollars here and there can really be helpful when you have a growing family! I also really enjoy the writing process and definitely hope to be helpful to others. All that to say, if you keep at it, you never know what good results you might get. Welcome!

It's good to hear from you, as always! I'm so glad you got encouragement from this hub. It's always neat when we feel something was specifically meant for us, from the Lord. Glad you were blessed. Your encouragement has blessed me many times! Hope you have a great week and Happy 4th of July coming up!
