Daily Top 10 is seeking ways to get paid for being creative.

Yes, Displate is a legitimate website that allows artists or photographers to upload their art or photos for printing and pays them per print. And I've already received payment from them.

It's true that you can wait a long time for payment, and the commission you'll get per order is also very low. But since they'll handle everything to successfully sell your art, including marketing, shipping, and customer support, it's really not a bad deal.

Whether you'll be happy investing time and effort in creating art or photos for Displate greatly depends on your goals. If you are aiming to earn thousands in just a few months, You better look for other ways to earn money online. But of all the several ways I've tried to sell my artworks online, Displate was one of the most successful.

What Displate Is, and How to Start Earning There

Displate is an e-commerce company that specializes in manufacturing POD (print-on-demand) metal posters. The website also claims to be a platform where artists across the globe can gather and share their wonderful art. It was founded in 2013 and currently has 30,000 artists and 600,000 artworks currently displayed on their website.

One of the major reasons why I tried Displate is its ease of use. After creating a digital artwork with their specified dimensions (width: 2900px, height: 4060px), you can upload it to your Displate account in just a few clicks.

Displate also allows artists to create collections where you can group similar artworks so potential buyers can easily browse through all your works that interest them most. There's no limit to how much artwork you can upload per account so it's perfect for those who are really passionate about digital art and have tons of creative ideas to share.

How to Guarantee Success on Displate

  1. Have your own unique style. You don't have to be the next Picasso to earn money online on Displate. You can even treat it as a training ground where you can practice creating your very own art and upload it to earn extra as you improve. Bring something new to the table and the commissions will surely follow.
  2. Work hard and don't be frustrated even after several setbacks. I didn't earn a single dollar during my first week on Displate, even though I uploaded more than 30 artworks during that time. I understand that time and effort are required for your account to get traction in any e-commerce website. And I was not frustrated about having 0 earnings since I had fun creating my works and seeing them displayed on their website. It gives me a great sense of satisfaction knowing that people around the world see and appreciate my works. My artworks started selling by week two.
  3. Watch out for holidays and Displate flash sales. It was the first week of December when I created my Displate account and started uploading. Probably the approaching holidays helped my account gain traction faster than usual. I received a lot of orders, especially a week before Christmas. It's likely that the majority of my buyers gave my artwork to their family or friends. Be on the lookout for holiday opportunities to sell more on Displate and work on creating new and timely designs to make the most of them.

About My Displate Earnings So Far

I know my earnings are not that much but at least they are passive. I stopped creating artworks for Displate for now, as I'm very busy with work, but the orders keep coming in. Since the website does not limit how many prints a design can have, all your artworks basically have unlimited earning potential. And the best part of all is that you don't have to worry about marketing them, which I believe is the trickiest part of the whole e-commerce setup.

But if you think I'm wrong, why not earn some extra cash by marketing Displates online? You can be an affiliate and make money online on Displate even without uploading a single artwork. I've never tried it but I think it would work if you know the ins and outs of online marketing. Try it out and kindly share your results in the comment section below for the benefit of other budding online marketers and Displate artists.

To Join or Not to Join Displate?

Creating digital artworks and uploading them to Displate is definitely not a bad idea. The passive income will surely help you in more ways than one. Just don't think of it as your main source of income so you can avoid being upset if ever it fails to meet your expectations.

Although the top artists on Displate are earning thousands every month, unless you are willing to invest a serious amount of time, effort, and even money for extra marketing, it's unlikely that you'll be able to reach their level. But who knows, right? Your work of art might be the next big thing on Displate! You might as well set your sails and test the waters. I did and it went far better than I hoped it would. I ended up earning some extra cash online while doing what I'm most passionate about; creating digital art and appreciating how it can inspire, influence, and make others happy.

I'll try to update this article after a year to give you a brief report about my yearly earnings on Displate.
