Consistency Is Key
The more you write the more you will establish a relationship with readers. After reading one of your well-written articles, they might look forward to reading some of your other articles. However, if your articles are few and far apart, readers will be disappointed and not look forward to reading your articles again when they do show up.
Be consistent and keep writing. Good writers tend to write related articles because they can't say everything they are passionate about in one article. Then they can provide links to articles they have already written.
Write Headlines That Grab Readers
Your headline is the first thing people will see. Make sure it is a good one that captures their attention. People won't know if your articles are quality ones if they are not provoked to open them based on their titles. Here are some tips for your headlines.

Use your keywords in the first three words of your headline or the last three words in the headline. This helps readers to know exactly what your article is about just by glancing at the headline.

Break Up Your Paragraphs
There should be some white space in your article. This is done by breaking up your paragraphs. I have seen articles with only one or two paragraphs in the entire article. I was not motivated to read it because too much information was included in a few paragraphs.
There is a lot of debate about the length of paragraphs. However, most people agree that paragraphs should be a minimum of 3-5 sentences and a maximum of 8-10 sentences. Make sure you don't write everything in one block of text. Start a new paragraph when you begin discussing a new or related topic.
You can break up paragraphs by using subtitles, images, callouts, and polls.

Update Old Articles
It is beneficial to update your articles on a regular basis. If you have a lot of articles, it will be time-consuming, but it is worth it. When you update them, you might find mistakes that were overlooked when you first published them the first time.
Also, you might have discovered something new which you can add because you did not know it before.
Search engines prefer updated articles instead of out of date ones. Because you will get a nice boost with updated articles.
Write Evergreen Content
Over my many years of writing, I have found that my evergreen content brings in more money. For instance, I wrote an evergreen article, "How Much Do Big Brother Contestants Get Paid?" Every season when Big Brother comes on, people see that article and read it when they were looking for something else about the reality show. I get thousands of impressions without having written a new one about the series.
At Christmas time and other holidays, I write about traditions, songs, biblical stories that won't change over the years. When people search using my keywords, I get paid for those articles written ten years ago.
Ninety percent of my articles on HubPages are evergreen. That means the information remains the same forever. Whenever I write about a current event, the life span is only a day or two. Besides, more writers are writing about the same event. I was quite disappointed when I wrote about the deaths of Michael Jackson, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Billy Graham, Congressman John Lewis, Alex Trebek, and other well-known celebrities. The page views were pitiful.
Write a Caption Under Images
Here is a tip that not many people know about. In fact, I recently found out about this tip. We should be putting a caption under images because search engines recognize the text but not the image.
I am going back and put a description under my images in older articles. Not only will that count as an update, but it will give the search engines more information to work with.
Notice that I have a description for each image along with the source in each image in that article. Make sure your images are identified in a similar way.
Don't Approve Every Comment
You might be tempted to approve every comment that is posted at the bottom of your articles. You might feel bad to delete it. However, sometimes people take the advantage of your comment section to advertise their products or to post something unrelated to your article. Delete those comments because they give your article a bad image, according to search engines.
A little known secret is that you can comment on your own articles to get them a boost. That doesn't merely mean thanking others for reading your article. When you do thank others for reading your article, you can mention your keywords or something in the article that the search engines will see.
Exposure Through Related Articles
You have probably noticed that at the bottom and on the side of your articles, there is a screenshot of related articles from others and from you. If you have written more than one article about the same topic, it will be listed.
That is great exposure especially for people who didn't read the article the first time around. I have been getting a lot of pageviews these days, and I know that is one of the reasons.
HubPages makes it convenient for writers to post their articles on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. All you have to do is click on the icon and post your link. Any exposure is better than no exposure.
You can also join Facebook groups with people who are interested in a specific topic. For instance, food groups, movie groups, and hundreds of other groups are available.
Follow Examples of HubPages Reviewers
According to the forums, some people complain when reviewers make changes to their articles. I welcome those changes if they make my articles better. Then I use their recommendations for upcoming articles.
For example, I saw that a reviewer changed my bland images into beautiful images that were made on canva.com. I didn't know about the site until then. Now I am making my own photos from that site as well as from other free photo editing sites.

If you ever want to check your balance and see how your articles are doing on HubPages, check it each day around 11:30 a.m. I keep a record of how much I make each day. Some people write and never check their balance and are quite disappointed at the end of the month when they don't get much money. Pay attention to what you are making during the month so you will be motivated to do better.
